I recently received some fun products from Scrapbook.com to try, including these stencil brushes from their exclusive line.  I have a video HERE showing you how I use them with stencils.  As always, all opinions are my own.

These brushes blend Distress Oxide ink beautifully.  I got seamless results for this clean and simple floral card.

Horses Everywhere

I recently took some time to experiment with a stamp set I’ve had in my stash for awhile.

This unique set from Inkadinkado is not normally my style, but there was just something about it that made me purchase it….  Those horses are so lively, and full of detail!  Sometimes, it’s great to get out of your comfort zone and just have some fun.  I had to see what I could do with them.

I love combining stamp sets from different companies, so I thought this set from Papertrey Ink would be perfect to pair with the line of horses running.  Mountain Majesty is a beautiful and easy to use layering stamp that creates a gorgeous mountain background.

IMG_2362

To create a bigger space for the horses to fit, I stamped the first mountain layer higher up on my white notecard with some Distress Oxide Ink in Hickory Smoke.  I mainly just stamped the top of the mountains since I would be blending more of the Hickory Smoke downward on the card.

I filled in the extra space with more Hickory Smoke.

After stamping the peaks with some white pigment ink and adding the trees, I created a sunset look with more Distress Oxide ink.

IMG_2344

I stamped the horses in brown ink, then added some more color with a tan colored pencil.  The stamps already have shadowing so that makes it so much easier.

IMG_2347

I used a sentiment from the Papertrey Ink set called Bold & Beautiful Sentiments.

Here’s another card I did using an older sentiment set from My Favorite Things called Life’s Direction.   I blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide into the corners of the card panel and colored the horses with Copics.  Then, I adhered everything to a navy blue notecard.

I love making encouragement cards and I think this Horses set is perfect for that.

Thanks so much for joining me today–if you have this stamp set, I’d love to see what you’ve tried with it.  Tag me on Instagram @bluescallopcreations and I’ll take a look.

CutCardstock Design Team Project: Autumn Blessings

I love that just by seeing Fall colors, you get a feeling for what the season is all about.  A calm warmth, getting settled in for the colder weather, leaves changing, hot drinks :)…..For today’s project, first featured on the CutCardstock blog, I wanted to capture that feeling on a card with some ink blending and simple stamping.

I started off with a white card panel I cut down to 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ and stamped some trees and a sentiment onto the front to create a scene.

IMG_1670

I wasn’t sure where I wanted to place more trees, so I started my ink blending to kind of see what I wanted to do next.  I used Distress Oxide inks coming in from the sides, then the top and middle in Fall themed colors of red, yellow and orange.

IMG_1672

For the ground, I added some green along with a little gray.

After all of the ink blending was done, I added a couple more trees along with some birds using black ink.  I added my panel to another panel of Currency Cover Gold cardstock (5 5/16″ x 4 1/16″) and then added that panel to a notecard created with Pop Tone Hot Fudge Cardstock.  The Hot Fudge cardstock is such a nice, rich brown–so perfect for Fall-themed projects.  I love how it looks with the gold peeking out a little.
