Hi Everyone!

I’m back with another project for the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Page.  This month’s new challenge is up over at the challenge blog and I’m playing along using the gorgeous Hero Arts Marianne’s Flowers stamp set.

ChallengeCleanSimple

I was inspired by all the beautiful flower arrangements offered this time of year for the Easter Holiday.  To keep my design clean and simple, I kept the card one layer and opted to use my Zig Clean Color brush pens to add the vibrant color.  These are a great option because they do not show through the other side of the paper as Copics tend to do.  I like to use my Zig’s full strength, but you could also opt to add water for a lighter, watercolored effect.

IMG_5385

To give a fuller, floral look, I cut out a few of the stamped flowers and popped them up with foam tape overlapping each other.  I also added a little bit of shimmer to the bird using a Spectrum Noir shimmer pen.

embossing

For today’s card, I’m joining in the current challenge which is “embossing”  I am using the Bookcase wooden stamp along with the Stamp Your Own Fruit stamp set to create a teacher appreciation card.

IMG_5191

Using some Hero Arts Sea Mix and older teal layering papers, I created two A2 size notecards and stamped the bookcase onto the front of each using Versamark ink.  I then sprinkled white embossing powder and heat embossed the entire background.  You want to be sure to use a powder bag before stamping to ensure crisp embossing with the powder staying in the right places.

IMG_5180

The Stamp Your Own Fruit set has an apple that is such a perfect, basic shape.  I colored two with a few Copics and then trimmed them out with scissors.

Teacher 2

I popped the apple up with some foam tape in the middle of each of my cards and added a heat embossed sentiment using the Thanks Stamp & Cut set.

Teacher 1

This was a super easy card to make and you can do different colors for both masculine and feminine.  I love the combination of the apple with the bookcase for the teacher theme.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Hello Beautiful

IMG_4189

Hi Everyone!

Today, I have a sunny card I am entering in both the A Blog Named Hero challenge and the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #307.

It’s been so dreary this winter, I’ve been ready for some fun color, so I grabbed some yellows and oranges from my Hero Arts ink collection along with their Color Layering For You stamp set and went to work on a clean and simple card.

IMG_4180

IMG_4185

I love the lime green leaves paired with the orange flowers.

IMG_4187

The little bit of black from the pretty sentiment ties everything together.

Thanks so much for stopping by–have a great weekend!

Winter Wishes

(This post contains affiliate links)

This weekend, I had a chance to get into my craft room and try out some of the new stamps that I purchased awhile back.  The Color Layering Cool Fox stamp set from Hero Arts was first on my list.

IMG_3820.JPG

I wanted my fox to be a silver fox, so I looked up “silver fox” online and saw that they are actually mostly black with gray accents.  Using my stamp platform, I stamped the first layer in black and then added the second layer using Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Silver.

img_3809

I had this idea to have the fox kind of stepping into a snowy scene from the outside of the card.  To do this, I created a background on a light blue notecard using a stencil and some embossing paste.

img_3811

For the ground I created a snowdrift using a die and some holographic glitter paper.

axik1461

I die cut a heart into some Hero Arts Layering Paper and added that as a frame over the top with foam tape.  I really like the shades of blue with the black fox.  I feel like you get a chilly, fresh winter feel with these colors.

img_3822

The sentiment and flowers surrounding it are from Hero Arts’ Color Layering Dimensional Bird stamp set.  The flowers are stamped in the Hero Arts Silver Shadow Ink too.  I haven’t used this ink pad in a long time and am now rediscovering how nicely it stamps with just a small bit of shimmer.

img_3818

I am entering this card in both the A Blog Named Hero monthly challenge–Winter as well as the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge–Something New.  Thanks so much for joining me today!  A supply list is below for the products I used.  Have a great week!

Clean & Simple Holiday

IMG_2912

Hi Everyone!

Last week was the latest Online Card Classes clean and simple class called Clean & Simple Holiday.  It was a super busy week, so I was only able to complete one project, but there are a lot of great ideas that I’m definitely going to refer back to.

I was inspired by Shari’s colored pencil technique on the back of vellum, so I used a background stamp from Hero Arts and heat embossed it in white for the technique.

Shari has a really nice clean and layered style, so I layered the sentiments with foam tape leaving lots of white space.

Kat Scrappiness Design Team Project: Bright Birthday Wishes

Hi Everyone!  Today I have a bold and bright birthday card using the Wood Grain Framed Diamond Wire Die and some pretty blooms from Mudra’s Wild Rose stamp set.

I started off by die cutting the background  using Gina K. card stock and leaving the  pieces intact.  I love that you can get different looks from this one background die!

IMG_1138

I used some tape on the back to secure everything.

IMG_1140

Next, I wanted to create a frame for my flowers, so I spread out my Never Ending Rectangle dies to find the perfect size.

IMG_1132

I blended some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink all over my chosen panel going from dark to light.

IMG_1134

I thought orange flowers would look nice with the purple and yellow, so I used a variety of Copics to color my stamped flowers.

IMG_1136

A sentiment from Hero Arts finishes the card.

Kat Scrappiness Design Team Project: Creating a Floral Background

For this month’s release of the new Stitched Scalloped dies, I wanted to showcase all the ways you can use these dies to create wonderful layers on a card front.  To break it up a bit, I added a layer of background stamping in a unique way……

I started off with a white card stock panel and stamped the floral layer from Hero Arts’ Color Layering Hydrangea stamp set right in the middle.  I followed up by stamping it again right next to the first flower, kind of fitting it in like a puzzle piece.  A stamp platform works really well for this.  I used my new favorite summer-y ink pad from Lawn Fawn–Forget Me Not.  I continued to stamp the flower all around until I filled the panel.

IMG_0500

IMG_0502

When I was finished, I took one of the Stitched Scalloped Square dies and used it to cut out the center of the stamped panel.

IMG_0498

I backed that panel with a piece of gray card stock I cut using one of the Never Ending Square dies.

IMG_0496

I layered everything over a note card I made using woodgrain cardstock and added another white scalloped square over the top layers.  A sentiment strip and some sequins finished it off.

Kat 1

Those bright blue hydrangeas remind me of summer at the sea and those layers add such great texture.
