Hello Beautiful

IMG_4189

Hi Everyone!

Today, I have a sunny card I am entering in both the A Blog Named Hero challenge and the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #307.

It’s been so dreary this winter, I’ve been ready for some fun color, so I grabbed some yellows and oranges from my Hero Arts ink collection along with their Color Layering For You stamp set and went to work on a clean and simple card.

I love the lime green leaves paired with the orange flowers.

The little bit of black from the pretty sentiment ties everything together.

Thanks so much for stopping by–have a great weekend!

Old-Timey Birthday Card

(The following post contains affiliate links)

img_3955

I’ve recently been trying to add more masculine birthday cards to my  collection.  The Tough Guy stamp set from Avery Elle just makes me smile with it’s vintage style.

img_3945

Clean and Simple was the way I wanted to go with this card, so I started off with a “grounding spot” for my weightlifter.  I actually used the Enclosed: Sun die set from Papertrey Ink.  The card below was one I did awhile back and I’m borrowing the design from it as well.  I love how you can get two different looks from the same product!

IMG_9957

img_3947

Lately, I’ve been loving when people add little touches of white gel pen to their coloring.  You see this a lot on Lawn Fawn projects and it really makes the images come to life.  I want to try and do this more, so after coloring in the weightlifter with Copics, I added two small lines on either end of the weight just for some shine.  I’ll admit, I held my breath a little so I wouldn’t make a mistake but I think it turned out o.k. :).

img_3949

I don’t always purchase the matching dies with my stamps since my Cutter Bee’s usually do the trick for cutting things out.  In this case though,  I was glad I got the die because it cuts out all the inside parts that are really hard to get with the scissors.

img_3953

I stamped a small shadow with some grey ink underneath the weightlifter’s feet so he would have something to “stand” on.  This is from an older stamp set from Paper Smooches called Vogue Abode which, unfortunately,  I could not find a link for.  A grey marker line would work well for this too.

img_3958

This card was so easy and fun to put together, I made two!  Thanks so much for joining me today.  I have all the products I used listed below.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge #346–2018 A La Carte

img_3790

This week I had a chance to create a project inspired by one of Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday challenges from 2018.  I chose # 312-Framing Sentiments and Images.  It’s true what Laurie says in the video, a frame really makes a difference when you add it as part of the card.  Clean and simple is my favorite style and a frame can add texture and a nice place to ground your embellishments.

For my card today, I die cut some gingham patterned paper using the rectangle frame from the Make It Market: Shakers and Sprinkles kit.  I added a layer of blue foam underneath to raise the frame up a little and add some interest.

img_3794

I added the frame to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ white notecard with a sentiment from Botanical Bounty stamped in the middle.  To heat emboss the sentiment, I used Versamark Onyx Black ink, then sprinkled some clear embossing powder over the top to heat it.

I love the color palette of a “pinkish red” with bright blue, so I added some flowers from The Sweet Life around the frame that I stamped with Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy Inks.

Clean and simple with some fun, Springtime colors!

Sending Christmas Cheer

IMG_2991.JPG

I’m so happy to be participating in Papertrey Ink’s monthly blog hop for November.  I love this challenge because you get to create a card inspired by a gorgeous photo they choose.  Here is this month’s inspiration:

{source: goodhousekeeping.com}

I love all the red and white.  I’ve been using that color combo a lot on my cards this month.  That blue ribbon is so pretty too, so I decided to combine all the colors for my card along with a little sprig of green.

I used the peppermint circle from the Candy Cane Christmas stamp set and created a masked line of the candies all the way across a white notecard using Pure Poppy ink.  This is really easy to do using a 1 3/4″ punch and some masking paper.  Just stamp, cover the first stamp with the mask, stamp again offsetting the image, remove the mask and cover the second image, stamp, and so on…..

IMG_2993.JPG

IMG_2986

I added the circle tag from Holiday Photo Finishers (an older set) stamped on some Spring Rain cardstock and tucked in some holly from the Spruce & Sprigs set.  Light blue enamel dots helped to continue the blue.

IMG_2988

Those peppermint candies are so festive and the masking keeps this card clean and simple.  Thanks so much for joining me today.  Supplies used on my project are linked below.  Just click on the logo below each product for the shop

Clean & Simple Holiday

IMG_2912

Hi Everyone!

Last week was the latest Online Card Classes clean and simple class called Clean & Simple Holiday.  It was a super busy week, so I was only able to complete one project, but there are a lot of great ideas that I’m definitely going to refer back to.

I was inspired by Shari’s colored pencil technique on the back of vellum, so I used a background stamp from Hero Arts and heat embossed it in white for the technique.

Shari has a really nice clean and layered style, so I layered the sentiments with foam tape leaving lots of white space.

I love the way this turned out.  A really great way to use background stamps you have in your stash.  Thanks for joining me today!
