A Blog Named Hero Project: ‘Tis the Season

IMG_6401

I love a traditional Christmas color palette against a snowy white background.  Today, I have more ideas for your Christmas card making using Hero Arts stamps and of course this month’s A Blog Named Hero Challenge as inspiration.

For the background of this card I die cut a panel using the Rounded Rectangles die set and stamped it with the Garland Bold Prints background stamp using Silver shadow ink.  I added a simple sentiment from the Dimensional Bird stamp set along with some of the flowers I cut out.

I love adding a little bit of Spectrum Noir Sparkle Marker over the tops of my stamped images.  It gives such a pretty, frosted look.  Red Royal and Ombre Mint Julep to Emerald Green inks were my choices for the poinsettia colors.  Really bright and Christmas-y!

A Blog Named Hero Project: Christmas in July

xmas july 1

The new challenge is up over at A Blog Named Hero and it’s Christmas in July!  I have a simple card I made using a stamp that I love from Hero Arts, but is not necessarily a Christmas stamp.  It has the elements with the berries, so I just made it into one using Christmas colors and a few little Nuvo Drops for emphasis.

IMG_6271

Before stamping onto my white card panel, I masked off a small area around the edges so there would be some white space.

IMG_6273

I used a Hero Arts Ombre ink pad to get various colors of green on my image.

IMG_6275

After stamping, I added a little shimmer pen to the flowers for a shimmery, snowy look.

Be sure to head over to A Blog Named Hero to join in the challenge and check out the Facebook page for even more inspiration.  Thanks for joining me today!

Sending Christmas Cheer

IMG_2991.JPG

I’m so happy to be participating in Papertrey Ink’s monthly blog hop for November.  I love this challenge because you get to create a card inspired by a gorgeous photo they choose.  Here is this month’s inspiration:

{source: goodhousekeeping.com}

I love all the red and white.  I’ve been using that color combo a lot on my cards this month.  That blue ribbon is so pretty too, so I decided to combine all the colors for my card along with a little sprig of green.

I used the peppermint circle from the Candy Cane Christmas stamp set and created a masked line of the candies all the way across a white notecard using Pure Poppy ink.  This is really easy to do using a 1 3/4″ punch and some masking paper.  Just stamp, cover the first stamp with the mask, stamp again offsetting the image, remove the mask and cover the second image, stamp, and so on…..

IMG_2993.JPG

IMG_2986

I added the circle tag from Holiday Photo Finishers (an older set) stamped on some Spring Rain cardstock and tucked in some holly from the Spruce & Sprigs set.  Light blue enamel dots helped to continue the blue.

IMG_2988

Those peppermint candies are so festive and the masking keeps this card clean and simple.  Thanks so much for joining me today.  Supplies used on my project are linked below.  Just click on the logo below each product for the shop
