My name is Heidi and my love of paper crafting began over 10 years ago creating scrapbooks for birthdays and fun events. At that time, there were many paper crafting magazines available and I was buying them on a regular basis to get more inspiration. I discovered magazines that were dedicated to card making and fell in love with the idea of using a smaller canvas to decorate with my scrapbooking supplies. Soon, I found clear stamps and ink and a new hobby was born. As time went on, I joined Splitcoaststampers, tried a few online card challenges, then eventually dove in to start my own blog. Since then, I’ve added a YouTube channel, joined design teams, and am having so much fun with all of it! I love the creative outlet card making gives me and being able to share that with others.
My signature style is clean, simple, and graphic, with pops of bright color. I think a few easy design principles are key in achieving that “pleasing to the eye” look in card design. I’ll often find inspiration for my cards in everyday things like clothing, signs, or even the colors in food.
If you are wondering how I came up with the title of my blog, it was actually the name of my Etsy shop when I had one. I was trying to think of a name and was told you should just brainstorm things you like. Scallop shapes and all the variations of the color blue, came to mind and that’s how Blue Scallop Creations was born! Pretty simple, but I think it works. My “logo” you sometimes see of a bright pink peony on a bright blue, scalloped cake plate represents my love for cheerful colors (and scallops) and my love for bold florals.
I’ve recently updated my blog to a cleaner, simpler style with less clutter and more focus on getting back to basics with bringing you quality content. I’ll mainly be featuring card making projects, but may also include posts on craft room organization, planning and maybe even some scrapbooking. Take a look around and enjoy!
